What an honest post... I can identify! I came up with a bunch of great excuses to not do my PLAN during the week... It gets dark too early to be safe going out alone to skate or walk like I planned and Dad isn't home to watch the kids so I can go till after dark... can't go during the day since I have the two babies and how can I skate and where would I walk to with them along? Well that was busted open because I can always walk to a friends and warm up then come home and they are fine bundled up on the sled... I can skate with them on the sled and get a double work out, skating and pulling and they love it!...

Anytime you wanna be active with me we could go sliding at the hill by my house with the little ones during the day! Or meet at the skating rink! Now that I have started pulling them around the rink on a sled I have no excuse about taking the kids to the rink and getting some exersise during the week...

I have yet to do this though... oh blah... your post was a good kick in the butt for me too... thanks

I hear you!
I've got a slug-nature, too, my friend. A couple of things that have worked well for me over the past several months - my "salt" if you will. :-D If they help, great. If not, ignore them. :)

1) Remembering that after 21 days, you develop habits. If you do it long enough, it will become your "normal" and even if you don't do the video - you'll want to go swimming, or walking, or sledding with the kids. Your body will crave the activity. I never actually "enjoy" it - but I get satisfaction from it being completed.

2) Reward yourself! After your workout have your cookie. :) I will sometimes brew a pot of coffee for little-'ol-me in the afternoon just because I finished my workout. Or I'll watch a show I enjoy... whatever works. I also don't work out on Sundays, and rarely do on days I'm out of the house for more than 5 hours. Those days I just try to watch my portions.

3) Keep being honest about it. My guess is that after you blogged this you were feeling more motivated about today, right? Even saying how much you hate something can cause you to realize how much it's necessary. :)

4) Last - but not least: Remembering to take one day at a time. Missing a day isn't the end of the world. Planning how you're going to do the next workout on your "off" days is fine. When I switched from "big" goals to little ones it became easier. From "I want to lose x-number of lbs." to "I want to exercise tomorrow." and the next day thinking the same thing. And all of a sudden, you've worked out 10 of the last 14 days and are being able to lift the baby a little higher. :)

Keep it up, Kim! You're doing great - and really? - reading about your attempts is keeping me motivated. Speaking of which... :) I'm off to get my walk done.
Hugs,
k.
